Remote Sensing is being used to Map and monitoring the Belum Rain Forest. Belum Rainforest home a vast number of species of flora and fauna, many of which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. It is the largest untouched forest reserves in the State of Perak, Malaysia. It holds enormous potential for the discovery of more biological treasures. The stunning landscape of Belum Rainforest houses over 3,000 species of flora, including three species of the largest flower in the world – the Rafflesia, 64 species of ferns, 62 species of mosses, and has a lake, home to 23 species of freshwater fish and 5 species of turtles. Remote sensing is being used to map, inventorying and monitoring the flora and fauna of the Belum Forest Reserved.

Remote sensing for Tualang Honey Hunting

Satellite Remote sensing is used to identify and mapped tualang tree in the Belum Forest Reserved. Normally, Tualang Honey bees prefer to build their hives on the branches of the giant tualang trees. Sometimes, one could find 20 to 40 hive on the tree.

This is one of the Resort on the island.
